The power-ups are done in a way that the more you collect the more powerful the ending result of you using it. The kart racing fundamentals are similar to many in the genre, you race around the track collecting uniquely upgradable power ups which help you mess with the competition and place upon the podium. The gameplay of Modnation may be familiar, but it also contains some refreshing new elements. In other words, you will get out of this game whatever you care to put into it. But of course, the more time you spent on these courses, the more detailed and personal they can become. Within about five minutes, you can have a fully set up track with scenery and jumps. They are extremely deep and flexible yet always user-friendly. Possibly, the most exciting aspects of Modnation are the track creation tools. The one downside lies in the fact to really get the full impact of the customization you will need to play and win the single player races in order to unlock the desired modifiers. The driver and kart customizations work on the same basic principles, and both leave the player with a wide array of possibilities. The customization is similar to Little Big Planet in the way that all aspects of the game are modifiable. The only differences for the PSP version of ModNation Racers will be reduced graphics and the ability to play it while on the go.As the title would suggest, the biggest draw for Modnation is the wealth of creation tools at your disposal.
The PSP version will not miss the online multiplayer, the track creation, the racer creation, or anything else. Sony promises that everything in the Playstation 3 version of the game will be in the PSP version as well. No date for the release is announced yet but the game is expected some time in the fall. What is unexpected is that Sony announced that ModNation Racers is coming out for the PSP at the same time it is scheduled to arrive for the Playstation 3. Since LittleBigPlanet also found its way to the PSP, the news that ModNation Racers is coming to the PSP is not unexpected. ModNation Racers is a kart racing title that allows you to not only create your racer and car but the race tracks too. Last E3, Sony announced that it was continuing the "Play, Create, and Share" initiative for the Playstation 3 that originally started with LittleBigPlanet by introducing ModNation Racers.
